Gypse, also known as gypsum, is a soft mineral composed of calcium sulfate dihydrate. It is used in a variety of applications, including construction as a key ingredient in drywall and plaster, as well as in agriculture and medicine. Gypse can also be found naturally occurring in large deposits, such as the White Sands National Monument in New Mexico. When heated, gypse can be converted into a powder called plaster of Paris, which is used in arts and crafts, dental molds, and as a setting agent in bone fractures. Despite its versatility and wide range of uses, excessive exposure to gypse can be harmful to health, causing issues such as respiratory problems and skin irritation.
